INTRODUCING SMUGS 2.0

Over the past 6 months we have been on a journey with Rose Anvil to create suede SMUGS. Following the overwhelming response to the SMUGS release in April, we knew we had to explore a suede version for Spring Summer '25. But as you likely know, Weston isn’t a fan of suede shoes. The only way to make this collaboration work would be to use only the finest suede to win him over. That’s why we chose the world-renowned Charles F. Stead suede, conveniently located in Yorkshire, England—it felt like the perfect match for a product that is truly Made In England. Shop here.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT CHARLES F. STEAD?

Despite its more than 130 years of hard-earned heritage, Stead - or to use the company’s full title: Charles F Stead and Co Ltd - is a thoroughly modern operation. Working with some of the most respected names in shoemaking, this Yorkshire tannery has become the name for quality British suede, which is why it was essential for us to use it for the SMUGS 2.0. 

WHY REPELLO SUEDE?

The quality of Repello Suede is unmatched in the industry, especially when used for a casual shoe like the SMUGS. This suede is crafted by splitting the hide and aniline-dyeing it, resulting in a velvety texture on both sides for unparalleled comfort.

During the tanning process, Charles F. Stead treats the leather with 'Scotch Guard' giving it exceptional stain resistance. This means you can wear your SMUGS confidently every day, knowing the treatment will remain effective throughout the shoes' lifespan. Paired with our resoleable construction, you can be confident that you will enjoy these shoes for a lifetime.
